Pies are probably my least favorite thing to bake. Don't get me wrong...I love, love, love eating them...but I don't love, love, love baking them. For me, there are just too many factors involved...too many opportunities for me to screw it up (over cooking the crust, under cooking the center, slicing into it and it falling apart...and don't even get me started about making meringue.!).
So you'll notice, I don't make that many pies. But when I saw this recipe for Nestle Toll House's Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie, I had to try it. My hubby's very favorite thing is a warm chocolate chip cookie...so I knew he would be in love with this pie. The good news, it was easy! The great news, I think it's fool proof. You will fall in love with this pie too.
Shopping List
1 unbaked deep dish pie shell (I used one out of the freezer section of the grocery store)
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Whipped cream or Cool Whip to garnish
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Beat eggs in a large mixing bowl until foamy (about 30 seconds). Beat in flour, sugar and brown sugar. Beat in butter. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until center isn't gooey when you cut into it with a knife. Remove from oven and let cool on wire rack. Serve with whipped cream.
See? So simple! After about 45 minutes, keep an eye on your pie and make sure the crust doesn't start to burn around the edges. If it does, take a little foil and cover your edges until the center of the pie is cooked. The filling for this pie is thicker than most pie fillings...it's a lot like cookie dough. This pie will absolutely be a staple in our house. It was easy and delicious!

You probably shouldn't have let the cat out of the bag that you are baking pies now too. No more Pantry dates...we are just going to meet at your house for lunch and pie! :)

This looks so good! I rarely eat wheat and my husband is giving up sweets but I might have to make this for Valentine's Day or something. YUM!
Mmmm. This sounds very similar to the recipe that my Mom calls Derby Pie! Love it!
My family makes this pie for almost every holiday. We love it! It's even better with a graham cracker crust. A warm piece with some vanilla ice cream is delicious!
yum. I have made this before and it is delicious. I agree, pies are not my fav either! Love your blog!
This pie looks so good--I think pie is my favorite dessert, so I totally will have to try this! :)
I went to college in upstate new york and the ONLY fancy restaurant in the area's dessert specialty was Tollhouse Cookie Pie. This recipe looks basically like a perfect match, except they put a top pie layer on too. Excited to try this!!
Are you so excited about Sean being on The Chew this Friday?! Get to watch your brother AND get recipe ideas :)
This seems so easy and yummy! I agree about pie, the only one I have been able to do is pecan pie, all the others have been disasters! (new follwer! :)
OOOH that sounds YUMMY! I just might have to make that for my husband's birthday tomorrow night!!! Just in time thanks!!! -Missy
This pie looks amazing! I am so going to 'mix and match' and add Peanut Butter Chips to the batter. Maybe do half Chocolate Chips and half Peanut Butter. I will let you know that version turns out. Love your blog! :-)
