Apple Spice Cobbler

Apple.  Spice.  Cobbler.

Are there three sweeter words?  I don't think so.  This is heaven in a bowl.  And heaven to make too.  Give me a cool night, good TV, a soft cozy blanket and a bowl of Apple Spice Cobbler.  I'm a happy girl.

Shopping List
1 box spice cake mix, divided
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, cold and chopped into pieces
1/2 cup pecans (optional)
2 (21 oz) cans apple pie filling
Vanilla Ice Cream, optional

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix 2 cups of your spice cake mix with water until smooth.  Set aside.  In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and the rest of your cake mix.  Add in your butter and combine with a fork until crumbly.  Stir in pecans.

Spoon pie filling into a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.  Spoon spice cake batter on top of pie filling.  Sprinkle your brown sugar mixture on top and bake for about 30 minutes.  Serve with ice cream.

I call these cobbler cakes.  They're part cobbler, part cake mix, totally delicious.  And simple, simple, simple.  Whether you're entertaining or just staying in with some good TV, this dessert will warm you up and make you happy.

Hi, are you supposed to refrigerate this after serving? Thanks a bunch!

Ha! We have a hard time not eating all of it at one time but yes, I would stick it in the fridge if I didn't inhale the whole thing :).

Is there a simple way to make the apple pie filling with fresh apples (from apple picking) instead of the store bought filling? This looks AH-mazing!
